'Game of Thrones' star Kristofer Hivju tests positive for coronavirus

Game of Thrones star Kristofer Hivju has revealed that he has tested positive for coronavirus.

The Tormund Giantsbane actor told fans the news via an Instagram post where he shared he and his family were self-isolating and that he had "mild symptoms".

He wrote: "Greetings from Norway! Sorry to say that I, today, have tested positive for COVID19, Corona virus. My familiy and I are self-isolating at home for as long as it takes. We are in good health - I only have mild symptoms of a cold.

"There are people at higher risk for who this virus might be a devastating diagnosis, so I urge all of you to be extremely careful; wash your hands, keep 1,5 meters distance from others, go in quarantine; just do everything you can to stop the virus from spreading. Together we can fight this virus and avert a crisis at our hospitals.

"Please take care of each other, keep your distance, and stay healthy! Please visit your country's Center for Disease Control's website, and follow the regulations for staying safe and protecting not just yourselves, but our entire community, and especially those at risk like the elderly and people with pre-existing conditions. @grymolvaerhivju #fightcorona #solidarity #takecare #folkehelseinstituttet Thanks to @panoramaagency"

Hivju shared the message alongside a photo of himself and wife Gry Molvær Hivju, with whom he shares two daughters.

Deadline have reported that Netflix will deep clean the set of The Witcher which has been filming for the second season, where Hivju has been cast as Nivellen.

The publication has also stated that staff were advised to quarantine themselves after the news that a production member had been affected.

It comes as other high profile stars have also announced they have coronavirus.

Monday saw Idris Elba disclose that he had been diagnosed with the virus, while Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson shared they had been infected last week.

On Tuesday, the film star and his wife left hospital in order to self-isolate themselves in a home they've rented in Queensland, Australia.

Hanks and Wilson were in the country for the former to film a Baz Luhrmann Elvis biopic where the actor has been cast as the singer's manager, Colonel Tom Parker.
