Coronavirus Kills: Another 17 Will County Deaths This Week
JOLIET, IL —Five days after the Will County Health Department announced that more than 400 people have died from the coronavirus since March, the county's death totals grew to 418, county officials announced Friday.
On Friday, Oct. 16, Will County reported three new deaths from the previous day. The county did not provide the ages of those who died however. As of Friday, Oct. 9, Will County registered 401 deaths from the illness, putting Will County's death toll at 401. Will County had 15,323 cases of the coronavirus at that time.

On Thursday, Oct. 15, Will County's Health Department reported the coronavirus deaths of a man in his 50s, a man in his 70s, a man in his 80s and a woman in her 90s. The county also announced that it had made a mistake in a previous announcement and that a woman in her 40s who died was not a coronavirus case.
On Friday, Patch also reported that five weeks after being dropped from the Illinois Department of Public Health's list of state counties at the warning level, and four weeks after additional mitigations were dropped for Region 7, Will County again finds itself listed as one of Illinois' "warning level" counties.
Will County Health Department Executive Director Sue Olenek said in a release the top priority right now is for Will County residents to follow all COVID-19 precautions, with the immediate goal being no return of additional restrictions
"We all know what happened the last time we went orange," Olenek said in a release.
