The UK's coronavirus death toll has hit 27,510 after a further 739 people died in hospitals, care homes and the wider community.

Meanwhile, 15,111 people were in hospital as of 5pm on Thursday and 77,454 people have tested positive, an increase of 6,201 since yesterday.

It comes as the Health Secretary Matt Hancock said daily tests have passed the 100,000 mark, describing the feat as an "incredible achievement".

Speaking at the daily Downing Street press briefing, Mr Hancock said 122,347 tests were performed in the 24 hours up to 9am on Friday, adding that testing would help "unlock" the lockdown.
