Coronavirus latest: Tuesday, May 12
Dr. Fauci testified at Congress on Tuesday to offer his opinions and reservations about the coronavirus vaccines and reopening the United States. Yahoo Finance’s Anjalee Khemlani joins The Final Round panel to break down the latest news about the coronavirus.

MYLES UDLAND: Let's move on to the coronavirus now. A lot of news today coming out of the Capitol and of course out of the tri-state region. Anjalee Khemlani joins us now with the latest. Anjalee.
ANJALEE KHEMLANI: Hey, Myles. So I was actually listening in on that Senate hearing earlier today, and we know that we've heard a lot of interesting things. Specifically, Dr. Anthony Fauci doubling down on really his warnings of what the consequences are of reopening the states and how that will in fact increase numbers of cases at the least, and possibly deaths as well, and what the country really has to do in order to prepare for a resurgence in the fall, which he is saying is coming.
Meanwhile, we also heard from the FDA about the steps that they have been taking, the commissioner talking about that expedited timeline, and a lot of questions about how really the US response failed in some ways in comparison to other countries, including South Korea, which, as we know, has been used as sort of that bar that we've measured ourselves against in the US. And so a lot of comments came about really, you know, just looking at what that response has been and what can be done in the future.
And there's some concern still that, as we're reopening states-- including those that haven't met some of those federal guidelines that have been laid out-- what that means, and then what we're looking at in terms of sort of an absent CDC. We did hear from Director Dr. Robert Redfield, but still a lot of questions remain about what is happening with a more detailed guidance that is expected out of the CDC. Reports earlier this week and last week saying that the administration has shelved this report that's expected, but really looking at possibly that actually coming out into light is what Dr. Redfield said.
