BALTIMORE, MD — Due to coronavirus-related issues, several neighborhoods around Baltimore may not have recycling service. Public works officials cited staffing shortages in announcing the disruption, releasing a list of impacted ZIP codes Friday. More than 40 were on the list.

"Baltimore City, like other large cities such as Philadelphia, is facing challenges with trash and recycling collections due to COVID-19, weather-related challenges, and other circumstances beyond its control," the Baltimore City Department of Public Works said in a statement. "DPW is currently evaluating options to improve solid waste collections using external resources while trying to manage the situation at hand."

Residents were advised to call 311 about missed and delayed collections. They can also visit three drop-off centers Monday through Saturday:

  • Sisson Street Citizen Drop-Off Center, 2840 Sisson St.; open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Saturday

  • Northwest Transfer Station, 5030 Reisterstown Rd., 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Saturday
