Coronavirus tests will be 'free': Trump

Trump praised negotiations by Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other representatives for their work on the 110-page bill.

Pelosi said the House would begin work next week on another round of legislation to assist hard-hit industries and the broader economy. House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy said Trump's proposed payroll tax cut could factor in those negotiations.

The top U.S. infectious diseases expert said on Saturday that the country has recorded 2,226 case of the new coronavirus, but has not yet reached the peak of the outbreak.

National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Anthony Fauci said President Donald Trump's declaration on Friday of a national emergency meant "now it's all systems go" to ramp up testing in efforts to contain the pandemic.
