Coronavirus Tuesday update: One new Minnesota death and 80 new cases

Jun. 22—A Ramsey County resident in their 80s is Minnesota's latest COVID-19 victim as the state continues to record low numbers of new coronavirus cases.

The one death reported Tuesday brings the state toll to 7,550 with 4,465 of those fatalities in long-term care facilities.

There were 80 new cases recorded by the state Department of Health Tuesday — the fewest daily new cases since the pandemic's early weeks in 2020.

Hospitalizations are also at lows not since since early in the pandemic, with 114 hospitalized including 32 in critical condition.

Minnesota has administered 5.6 million coronavirus vaccines, with 3 million residents getting at least one dose.

The weekly rate of vaccine administration continues to slow with just under 118,000 shots distributed the first week of June, down from more than 410,000 the first week of April.
