Coronavirus Watch: What to know about the state of the pandemic

Coronavirus cases are rising in the U.S. – again.
Eighteen states reported more cases in the week of June 30-July 7 than in the week before, according to a USA TODAY analysis of Johns Hopkins University data.
Although the increase in cases doesn’t approach the meteoric levels of previous waves, health experts said what's recorded is likely an undercount because of underreported test results.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has tested positive for COVID-19 and is experiencing very mild symptoms, his spokesman said Sunday night. Schumer is fully vaccinated and has received two booster shots.
Masks will be required for people using federal buildings or riding buses inside Denali National Park and Preserve in Alaska amid a high number of cases of COVID-19 in the area.
The European Union is urging members to encourage second coronavirus booster shots for people 60 to 79 and other vulnerable individuals amid a new wave of cases.
