Coronavirus: Westchester Deaths Up To 67

WHITE PLAINS, NY — At his Thursday news conference, Westchester County Executive George Latimer said the county would be releasing community-by-community numbers of confirmed cases of the new coronavirus. The number released Thursday for Westchester County by Gov. Andrew Cuomo confirmed cases of COVID-19 was 11,567, up 884 from Wednesday.

Latimer said the county has been having difficulty getting numbers that are accurate and up to date. He said the labs that do the tests report numbers to the state which are then transferred to a case management system. The county has to go into that system and download information community by community, Latimer said.

"The problem is, in the system, there is a large number of unknown cases" for which the precise location has not been determined, he said.

Latimer there have been 568 total hospitalizations, with 344 Westchester residents currently in a hospital. There are 301 county residents hospitalized in Westchester.

To date, there have been 67 deaths, he said.
