Head-on crash in York County leaves one dead, two injured

YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM)– A woman is dead after a head-on crash that closed a road in York County for multiple hours Tuesday evening.

According to Fairview Township Police, a sedan and a large SUV crashed head-on into each other at the 1000 block of Lewisberry Road around 5:45 p.m.

According to the York County Coroner’s office, a 44-year-old woman was found dead at the scene after being ejected from her vehicle.

The coroner’s office said she had been reportedly traveling eastbound in the sedan in the westbound lane. After one vehicle swerved to avoid crashing with the sedan, the SUV — which was behind that vehicle — crashed head-one with the sedan.

Police said two other people were also injured. According to the coroner’s office, the driver of the SUV was also taken to a local hospital.

The deadly crash had the roadway closed for multiple hours.
