Coroner: Carlinville man died after being struck by vehicle

A Carlinville man was struck and killed by a vehicle, Macoupin County authorities have determined.

Monteaz Walton, 40, of the 1000 block of North Broad Street, was pronounced dead by the coroner's office after being found lying in the roadway Saturday morning.

After an autopsy was performed later Saturday, coroner Anthony Kravanya said Walton had died from injuries after being struck by a vehicle.

Walton was found just after 7 a.m. by Carlinville police in the 1100 block of Sumner Street, in the northeast part of the town. He was lying in a puddle in the roadway, according to Carlinville police.

Officers at the scene began life-saving measures until Carlinville Fire Protection District and Gillespie Benld Area Ambulance Service arrived.
