Coroner: Decatur man killed in Thursday night's Quail Creek shooting

Sep. 2—The Morgan County coroner today identified the victim of a fatal shooting that took place Thursday night at the campground at Quail Creek near Hartselle.

Jeremy Alexander Morse, 48, of Decatur, died of multiple gunshot wounds, Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn said.

According to the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a shooting call at the campground at about 7:20 p.m. Upon arrival, they located one person in critical condition with an apparent gunshot wound.

The Sheriff's Office said deputies detained two people, who were questioned and then released.

A medical helicopter was called to the scene.

Later, the office said the wounded person had died at the scene and that the incident appeared to have resulted from a domestic dispute.
