Coroner: Evansville man victim of fatal Warrick County vehicle fire

The Warrick County Coroner's Office identified the victim of a fatal car wreck and fire that occurred Tuesday afternoon as 30-year-old Patrick Stucki of Evansville.

According to a coroner's office news release sent Wednesday afternoon, Stucki suffered a medical emergency moments before his vehicle struck a building, causing the structure to burst into flames.

Warrick County Sheriff Mike Wilder said the incident occurred just after 2:45 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Indiana 662 and Stacer Road. Stucki was reportedly waiting in a restaurant-drive through when he experienced the medical emergency.

"The vehicle left the parking lot drive through and crashed into a nearby residential building," Wilder wrote in a news release. "The building then caught fire before the driver could be removed from the vehicle."

First responders pronounced Stucki dead at the scene, Wilder said.

According to the coroner's office, a preliminary investigation indicated that neither drugs nor alcohol were a factor in the accident and confirmed earlier reports that a medical emergency likely caused the accident.

A full autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
