The Kitsap County Coroner on Monday identified the victim of a South Kitsap house fire on June 29 as 56-year-old Kenneth E. Giberson.

Gibson and his dog died in the fire in the 9300 block of Transue Lane, according to South Kitsap Fire and Rescue. He was the only occupant of the home.

Washington State Forensic Odontologist Kyle Tanaka assisted in identifying Gibson, according to the Kitsap County Coroner's Office. An autopsy was performed by Kitsap County Forensic Pathologist Lindsey Harle, who said the cause of death was smoke inhalation.

Harle ruled the manner of death an accident.

Kitsap County fire officials last week said they believed the fire was started as a result of cooking in the kitchen. The home was engulfed in flames when the call came in at 5:57 p.m. on June 29.
