Pregnant woman dies in shooting, her baby survives

A pregnant woman who was shot in Avondale on Saturday died, but police say her baby survived.

Nia Booker, 34, died at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, according to the Hamilton County Coroner's Office. Police have not reported any arrests in the shooting.

Cincinnati police Lt. Jonathan Cunningham said Booker's baby survived the shooting and is undergoing medical treatment. The infant was listed in critical condition as of Sunday.

Cincinnati police reported that officers responded to a Shotspotter alert and 911 call about a shooting in the 400 block of Rockdale Avenue just before 5:30 p.m. When they arrived, no victim was found, officials said.

Officers later found Booker at the hospital, where she had been taken by another individual.
