Coroner ID's prominent local refining executive who was hit by vehicle

Sep. 22—The Kern County coroner's office identified a man who died early Sunday morning after he was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in downtown Bakersfield.

Majid Mojibi Yazdi, 75, of Bakersfield, was struck around 7:29 p.m. Saturday while crossing the street outside of a crosswalk at the intersection of 20th and F streets, according to Bakersfield Police Department and coroner's office reports.

Yazdi, who was president of the San Joaquin Refining Co. Inc., was taken to Kern Medical, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries at 1:08 a.m. Sunday.
