Coroner: Man shot on TARC bus in downtown Louisville in December dies

UPDATE: Jury finds man not guilty of murder in fatal TARC bus shooting in downtown Louisville

The man who was shot on a TARC bus in the middle of downtown Louisville back in December died Friday, according to authorities.

Michael W. Bennett, 42, died Friday afternoon at University of Louisville Hospital due to multiple gunshot wounds, the Jefferson County Coroner's Office said in a news release.

Bennett had been in the hospital since Dec. 23, when he was shot multiple times by an unknown suspect on a TARC bus just outside the Kentucky International Convention Center.

Bennett was reportedly shot during a fight with another rider on the TARC bus at 3rd and Market streets, and the suspect fled the scene.

The Louisville Metro Police Department's homicide unit still is investigating the fatal shooting.
