Corpus Christi ISD names two principals, district leader
Corpus Christi ISD announced three new district leaders Thursday.
Shea Hernandez will lead Kolda Elementary School. Justin Milner will lead Metro Elementary School of Design.
Hernandez currently serves as assistant principal of Galvan Elementary School. She has 22 years of experience in education, including at CCISD, West Oso ISD and Flour Bluff ISD.
She has a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Milner is currently an assistant principal at Adkins Middle School. He is replacing David Crabtree at Metro Elementary. Crabtree was recently named principal of Driscoll Middle School.
Milner previously worked at South Park Middle School, where he was named campus teacher of the year in 2016-17, and Cunningham Middle School.
Milner earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and completed a Lamar University principal certification program.
Zonia Lopez has been named director of special programs. Lopez, a current CCISD principal, is replacing Velma Salazar, who is retiring.
Lopez currently is principal of Kolda Elementary School. She has worked in education since 1991 as a teacher, instructional teaching adviser, math specialist and coach. She earned a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M Unviersity-Kingsville and a master's degree from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
“Ms. Lopez, Ms. Hernandez and Mr. Milner are strong CCISD leaders, and we anticipate smooth transitions,” Superintendent Roland Hernandez said in a news release. “Each of these leaders has been part of our districtwide team that has shown true dedication to our unified goal of helping our students further their education throughout a pandemic and amid other challenges. We look forward to their leadership in their new roles.”
According to the news release, CCISD will continue announcing new leaders over the summer months.
