Corpus Christi native to star in History Channel series with Tim Allen, Richard Karn

A Corpus Christi native will join the former stars of "Home Improvement" in their television comeback.
April Wilkerson, a DIYer and YouTuber, will star alongside Tim Allen and Richard Karn in a new History Channel series, "More Power."
The new nonfiction show, set to premiere 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, will have the trio tackle the history of tools in 10 episodes. It will celebrate "the coolest, most powerful and iconic examples of tools," while showcasing the evolution of power from handheld and basic to the industrial and mighty, according to a news release.
Wilkerson started her blog, wilkerdos.com, in February 2013. On her website, she said she never used a power tool beforehand.
"I didn’t grow up working on things nor did I take a shop class in school," Wilkerson said. "But when I couldn’t afford to buy the things I wanted for around the house, I decided to try my hand at making them and dove headfirst into building. Now years later, I still much prefer to build the things I want and need."
Eventually, Wilkerson started to make free video tutorials for her website on her projects.
"More Power" will feature special guests from across the country to create one-of-a-kind innovations.
Each 30-minute episode will be themed around one tool. In Allen's workshop, viewers will learn how tools works and break down everyday machines and appliances that feature tools including blades, batteries, magnets and lasers.
