Sky News viewers were puzzled after a courtroom reconstruction of the current Prince Harry case left them thinking they were watching Coronation Street.

Prince Harry is the first senior royal to give evidence in court in over 130 years (via Variety) and is appearing in court this week, having accused tabloid newspapers of hacking his voicemails as a teenager.

The Duke of Sussex aims to prove that papers published by Mirror Group Newspapers wrote stories about him using illegally obtained information.

Starting Tuesday (June 6) at 9pm, Jonathan Samuels presented a segment called Harry in Court and will do so each evening.

As cameras and recordings are not allowed in the courtroom, an actor has been used to voice moments from his evidence during the segment.

When viewers tuned in to watch the special, they noticed the actor playing Prince Harry had an uncanny resemblance to Coronation Street's David Platt, played by actor Jack P Shepherd.

One viewer tweeted: "Looks like David Platt from Corrie."

It didn't long for similar comments to flood in.

"Looks more like David Platt than Prince Harry," a second person wrote.

Comments kept rolling in, as one Twitter user chimed in: "Looks & sounds like a ginger David Platt."

A confused viewer added: "Didn't realise David Platt off Corrie was giving evidence today too."

David Platt was soon trending on the social media platform, with hundreds of users saying the same thing.

Sky News Executive Editor and Managing Director Jonathan Levy said: “This trial and Prince Harry’s fight against the tabloid press has captured the world’s attention. With no cameras in the court, Sky News will offer viewers an accurate and fair reconstruction of what is said and a better understanding of how the case unfolds.”

Sky News shared a clip of its reconstruction with the caption: "In the phone hacking case, Prince Harry told the court that every single article played a destructive role in his life.

"There are no cameras in court so as part of a special programme Sky News has recorded what was said by the Duke, played by an actor."

Harry in Court can be found on the Sky News site as well as its TV news broadcasts.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
