Voters in the Britton Deerfield school district are being asked to fill full and partial terms on the school board in the Nov. 8 election.

Corrie Fox and Jim Frayer are running unopposed for partial terms ending Dec. 31, 2026, on the Britton-Deerfield school board. Fox is running to replace Lee Hoffman. Frayer is already on the board.

Incumbents Jim Mueller and Matthew Wynn are running for two six-year terms against Nancy Downard. They will be profiled in a separate story.

Polls for voters will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 8. Absentee ballots are available at township clerks' offices.

The Daily Telegram provided questionnaires to the candidates. The following are their responses, lightly edited for clarity.

Corrie Fox

Age: 35.

Occupation: Commercial banking .

Spouse/kids: Late husband, Lawrence Fox, and three children, Emmaleya, Levi and Jax.

Government experience: None.

Volunteer/community service experience: I’ve volunteered for the MDA, summer camps and of course have walked in local parades representing the bank I work for.

Why are you running for the school board? Honestly, after my daughter completed her eighth grade year and there were zero field trips or celebrations planned to recognize their accomplishments and entry to high school, I knew I needed to get involved and understand what was limiting our student resources for experiences. I have two boys and refuse for them to have the same type of year when it comes. I’d like to join on behalf of the students who attend these schools.

What do you think is the main challenge facing the district and what should be done about it? I would imagine funding is the biggest issue as from my perspective the lack of electives offered (art not even available to all ages), after-school programs and field trips points to this or lack of desire to create the experiences. Either way, I’m intrigued to learn the challenges and begin to work on solutions.

Why should people vote for you? I honestly don’t have any experience, but feel like that will only aid me. I am eager to learn and be part of this. I am open to ideas, have a great deal of passion for our school and students, and am not afraid to speak up and advocate for them. I believe there is a solution to darn near every problem, and I actively seek solutions. I would love the opportunity to deepen my connections within the community and be a positive change to the board.

Jim Frayer

Age: 62.

Occupation: DPW superintendent for the village of Britton.

Government experience: Ridgeway Township planning commission, village of Britton planning commission, village of Britton council.

Volunteer/community service experience: Ridgeway Township Fire Department for more than 40 years.

Why are you running for the school board? I am a grad, my kids are grads. and I want the best for the district and community.

What do you think is the main challenge facing the district and what should be done about it? Balancing the funds and the needs for the school and managing the best value for these dollars.

Why should people vote for you? I do not have any hidden agenda and just want to do the best for the district and community. I wear many community hats. They are all to support the community to the best of my ability.
