Coronation Street just aired its double bill, and now we finally know the outcome to Steve McDonald's terrifying knife scare.

It looks like the scriptwriters have been watching a few Hollywood movies recently, as tonight's (May 17) scenes played out something similar to the Tom Cruise thriller Collateral.

Steve picked up a young lad in his taxi after being offered a hefty sum, with the boy explaining he needed to visit his mum in hospital. His true plan turned out to be much more sinister, though, as he entered a fuel garage (pretending to buy flowers) and held the staff at knifepoint.

He jumped back into the taxi and quickly ordered Steve to drive, requesting he take them to some nearby wasteland. Steve was then informed he was the only witness to the garage robbery.

Scared for his life, Steve knew that one wrong move could cost him everything, so he decided to plead for mercy and show the robber pictures of Oliver and Amy.

The youth then warned him that if he told the police, then Amy, Oliver and Liz's lives will all be endangered – leaving Steve to drive home shaken, after legging it.

Upon his return to the house, it became apparent that Steve really can't afford to report the robber to the police, as he'll lose his license for picking up the fare off the street.

Ain't no conundrum like a Corrie conundrum, right?

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
