Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street's Ed Bailey will be tricked into becoming involved in an insurance scam next week, as the aftermath of the shock fire at the builders yard continues.

Following the fire, which put Ed's son Michael's life in danger when he rushed into the burning building in an attempt to save Ed, Ed has faced suspicion over its cause due to his mounting gambling debts.

While Ed has confirmed that he didn't start the fire himself on purpose, he has admitted to daughter Dee-Dee that he also didn't attempt to put the fire out, and fled the building instead.

In new scenes that will air on Monday, February 5 and Friday, February 9, Dee-Dee tells Ed that he will need to make a list of everything that was destroyed in the fire to pass on to the insurance company.

In the Rovers, Damon Hay advises Ed to submit an inflated claim in an attempt to profit from the fire, but Ed won't hear of it.

Later in the week, furious Dee-Dee tears a strip off Damon for lying on Ed's insurance forms. However, when Damon alludes to the fact that she has put her own neck on the line for her dad already, Dee-Dee is worried.

How much does Damon know regarding the whole truth about the fire?

Actor Trevor Michael Georges has previously spoken about Ed's sad story, revealing that the Bailey family originally moved to Weatherfield after "bringing his whole family into crisis" and almost losing "everything due to his gambling addiction".

"I don't think that guilt will ever leave him," he said. "I feel this really emphasises the tragedy behind Ed getting sucked back into gambling because he truly thought he had conquered it."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
