Coronation Street couple Gemma Winter and Chesney Brown will get some worrying news at their latest baby scan next week.

Gemma and Chesney are expecting quadruplets, and although the story has often been played for laughs, the pair have also been warned about the risks involved with multiple births.

As the duo attend their latest scan next week, they are told that one of the babies is measuring smaller than the other three.

This means that Chesney and Gemma will be required to attend weekly scans – as opposed to fortnightly – until the end of her pregnancy, in order to keep a close eye on how the babies are developing.

Despite being told not to worry, Gemma and Chesney can't help but fret following the appointment – while her family attempt to keep their spirits up.

Recent spoiler pictures have already confirmed the long-running rumours that Gemma will go into labour in a cable car later this year.

Dolly-Rose Campbell and Sam Aston, who play Gemma and Chesney, have been spotted filming the big scenes on location in Llandudno back in August – with the story due to hit screens towards the end of October.

Speaking earlier this year, Dolly-Rose explained: "I do think it is going to be funny seeing Gemma go through this pregnancy.

"But at the same time there are some very serious issues to be explored with a multiple pregnancy, so I am looking forward to all the different elements of the storyline."

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Wednesday, September 25 on ITV.
