Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street's Max Turner is due to be caught out by his friend Gav Adetiba next week, after he is forced to reveal that he has been seeing Gav's girlfriend, Bec, behind his back.

Max and Gav became friends while they were both incarcerated in juvenile detention, with Max agreeing to track down Bec after he was released early from the Secure Training Centre.

Unfortunately for Gav, events took a surprising turn when Bec revealed that she wanted to move on from Gav and date Max instead.

In scenes to air next week on the soap, new couple Max and Bec remain loved-up and Max heads out to meet her at her flat.

But he's in for a shock when Gav suddenly approaches, explaining that he has also now been released from the STC and that he wants to ask Bec to marry him.

Max is forced to admit that Bec has moved on and that she is now going out with him, leading a furious Gav to grab Max in anger.

Corrie producer Iain MacLeod confirmed earlier this year that Max would be getting a new, "incredibly unlikely" love interest, and that there may be happier times on the horizon for him.

But between Gav's angry reaction, Max's previous involvement in a far-right extremist group still looming over him, and a return for his ex-girlfriend Lauren Bolton also on the horizon, it's unlikely that Max and Bec's romance will be smooth sailing.

Max actor Paddy Bever exclusively told Digital Spy at the recent British Soap Awards 2023 that there is still plenty of drama to come for his character, teasing that Max's new partner "might not exactly know who Max is and what he's done" and that they "might be forced to come to terms with that".

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
