Corry native the 104th Pennsylvania State Police trooper to die in the line of duty

Corry native Jacques "Jay" F. Rougeau Jr., a Pennsylvania State Police trooper who was fatally shot while on duty in central Pennsylvania on Saturday, is the 104th member of the law enforcement agency to die in the line of duty.

State police members who died in the line of duty in what is now Troop E, which covers Erie, Crawford, Venango and Warren counties, were:

  • Sharon C. Wible, who died in a motorcycle accident west of Girard on Feb. 6, 1928

  • Russell T. Swanson, who was fatally shot in North East on April 19, 1929

  • Joseph L. Fulton, who died in a motorcycle accident in Summit Township on June 4, 1936

  • Joseph F. McMillen, who died in a traffic accident in Harborcreek Township on May 13, 1956

  • Roark H. Ross, who was killed in a traffic accident in Venango County on May 15, 1986

  • Matthew R. Bond, who died in a traffic accident on Interstate 90 in Harborcreek Township on Jan. 14, 2000

  • Brian A. Patterson, who was killed while investigating a traffic accident in Venango County on Feb. 14, 2003

  • Paul G. Richey, who was fatally shot while investigating a domestic disturbance in Venango County on Jan. 13, 2010
