Coshocton Public Library events for June

COSHOCTON − The Coshocton Public Library has announced activities and programs for June at the main library and the branch in West Lafayette.

∎ Marcella Olenzak is the featured artist with work on display this month at the branch library.

∎ Summer reading program kick-off events will be from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. June 1 at the main library and 3 to 4:30 p.m. June 2 at the branch library. It will feature Hank the Horse, various activities and an opportunity to pick-up summer reading materials.

∎ Books Galore Bookstore is open from 3 to 6 p.m. Mondays and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays at the main library.

∎ Gathering of Gamers will be from 1 to 3:30 p.m. June 3 at the main library with video games, board games, card games and more for adults.

∎ Public technology education classes will be from 10 a.m. to noon June 5 and 12 at the main library for help with devices, apps and software programs.

∎ STEAM for Tweens for ages 7 to 12 with activities related to science, technology, engineering, art and math will be from 11 a.m. to noon June 5 and 19.

∎ A digital genealogy presentation on Ancestry Library Edition, HeritageQuest and Sanborn Maps will be from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m. June 6 at the main library. A second part on the Historical Newspaper Collection, Fold3 and African American Heritage will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m. June 13 at the main library.

∎ Lapsit for babies and toddlers and their caregivers will be from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. June 6 and 20 at the branch library and June 7 to 8 and 21 to 22 at the main library.

∎ Preschool Story Time for ages 3 to 5 will be from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. June 6 and 20 at the branch library and June 7 to 8 and 21 to 22 at the main library.

∎ Plugged and Unplugged for those in seventh to twelfth grades with video games, laptops and snacks will be from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays.

∎ Weird Coshocton will cover odd events in county history ranging from flyer saucer sightings to a casino robbery from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 7 at the main library.

∎ The book club for tweens for those in third to sixth grades will cover "The BFG" by Roald Dahl from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. June 8 at the main library.

∎ Explore a World of Possibilities for senior adults to learn about locations around the world will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. June 12 at the main library. Keepsake passports will be stamped for each program.

∎ World of Wonder related to the summer reading program for ages 3 to 12 will be from 11 a.m. to noon June 13 and 27 at the branch library and June 14 to 15 and 28 to 29 at the main library. There will be crafts from cultures around the world.

∎ Friends of the Library will meet in regular session from noon to 1 p.m. June 14 at the main library.

∎ Adults can recreate book covers with provided paint and canvases from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 14 at the main library.

∎ Gadgets and Grandparents for older patrons to learn about online library resources, virtual reality and have other hands-on tech experiences is from 10 to 11 a.m. June 15 at the main library.

∎ Tween and Teen Time at the Branch for those in third to twelfth grades with arts and crafts is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. June 15 at the branch library.

∎ Story time for families is from 6:30 to 7 p.m. June 15 at River View Community Park with stories, songs and activities. Bring a blanket or chair. Same event will be June 29 at Himebaugh Park.

∎ Bookmarked book club for adults will cover "The Nickel Boys" by Colson Whitehead from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 20 at the main library.

∎ Those in third to twelfth grade can made friendship bracelets from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. June 21 at the main library.

∎ Papermaking and recycling for ages 3 to 12 with Alex Nelson from Coshocton County Recycling and Litter Prevention will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. June 27 at the branch library.

∎ Sampling of food from around the world for those in seventh to twelfth grades will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. June 28 at the main library.
