Costco is coming to Daytona Beach: Here's how to sign up for a wholesale club membership

Looking to save money on groceries, household goods, gasoline and more?

Volusia County's first Costco Wholesale Club could open in early 2024; construction on the store at One Daytona, the NASCAR-developed mixed-use center, is underway.

For those interested in a Costco membership, here are the options and how to sign up:

Costco membership options

The Issaquah, Washington-based wholesale membership club chain offers two kinds of memberships: gold star and executive.

Would-be members must be at least 18 years old with a valid photo ID.

The gold star membership, which costs $60 per year plus applicable sales tax, includes online and in-warehouse shopping and two membership cards, one for you and one for another person in your household.

The executive membership, which costs $120 per year plus applicable sales tax, includes the gold star benefits as well as a 2% annual reward (up to $1,000) on eligible purchases and additional benefits and discounted services, such as savings on vacations booked through Costco Travel.

Members are required to show their card to enter a store and make purchases.

Daytona Beach's future Costco

The store coming to One Daytona will be built on 17 acres, west of the CMX Daytona Luxury 12 Theatres multiplex.

This Costco location will be a 161,774-square-foot single-story store.

Plans submitted for the $17.8 million project include a gas station with 24 fueling spaces for members.

How does it compare to rival stores?

The Sam's Club located in Tomoka Town Center, built in 2019, is 140,000 square feet.

BJ's Wholesale Club located in Port Orange, built in 2013, is 85,000 square feet.

Where is the nearest Costco to Daytona Beach currently?

Until Costco opens next year in One Daytona, members currently have to travel to Altamonte Springs, St. Augustine or Melbourne in Brevard County.
