New Costco location in Natomas has an opening date

(FOX40.COM) — A new Costco location in Natomas officially has an opening date.

Costco’s newest location in the Sacramento area is opening on March 14, according to the warehouse retailer’s Regional Bay Area Office.

The new Costco will be located at 3881 East Commerce Way near Arena Boulevard and Interstate 5.

“We are so excited to be welcoming Costco to the Natomas neighborhood!,” Sacramento City Councilmember Karina Talamantes, who represents the area, said on social media.

Costco’s newest location in Natomas won’t have a gas station, as nearby residents were concerned about traffic potentially increasing when it was first announced in February 2022.

“Our city planning staff routed this project application to our Natomas community throughout 2022 to address any traffic concerns,” Talamantes told FOX40.com in a statement in January. “We will continue to check in with residents as the store opens up this year to monitor the area.

The land where the Costco will be located is close to the site where the Sleep Train Arena once stood.

Costco’s Natomas location is one of two new stores the retailer will open in the region. The retailer plans to open a store in Loomis sometime in April at the intersection of Sierra College Boulevard and Brace Road.

The Loomis location will come years after a dispute between the city of Rocklin and the town of Loomis. In October, the two communities came to an agreement on a Costco on the border of Rocklin and Loomis.

Initially planned to have a tire shop and a 24-pump gas station, the Lommis Costco won’t have those amenities, as a revisited plan will extend the northbound right-turn entry lane from Sierra College Boulevard.
