Could delay of Ravens-Steelers game help the Giants?

With the NFL season in the home stretch, every game is crucial for the New York Giants, including the games of their division rivals with the NFC East in such a tight race.

On Monday, news broke that the game between the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers was moved yet again, this time to Wednesday, December 2.

The game was, of course, originally scheduled to be played in the prime-time slot on Thanksgiving but was moved to Sunday, November 29 due to positive COVID-19 cases on the Ravens. The game had then been moved to Tuesday, December 1 and is now scheduled to be played on Wednesday afternoon December 2.

Among those who are expected to miss Wednesday’s game is former MVP Lamar Jackson. The Ravens’ mobile quarterback is currently on the Reserve/COVID-19 list and that would be a tough loss given Jackson’s game-changing ability.

Due to the movement of Week 13’s Ravens-Steelers matchup, the Week 14 game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Ravens that was supposed to be played Thursday, December 3 has also been moved to Tuesday, December 8. That gives Jackson an extra five days to be cleared for the matchup against the Cowboys.

With the division title well within reach for all four of the NFC East teams, the Giants can use all the help they can get. With Jackson hopefully on the field, the Cowboys’ chances at winning their matchup against the Ravens decrease significantly.

As it stands currently, the Giants are in first place but as we have seen in the last few weeks, things can change in a hurry.
