Could We Eventually Get an 'A-Force' Movie in the MCU?

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has brought many memorable comic book characters to life over the last decade. This past year, one of the most anticipated MCU movies to premiere was 'Captain Marvel,' notable because this was the first full MCU movie centered around a female superhero. Fans were wildly enthusiastic over Brie Larson and her portrayal of Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel. Captain Marvel later played a major role in the final battle with Thanos in 'Avengers: Endgame.' While we should be getting a 'Captain Marvel 2', fans are wondering whether Marvel could be gearing up to make a movie around the female superhero team, "A-Force."

What is A-Force?

'A-Force' is a comic series that was released in 2015, and featured an all-female superhero team. Written by G. Willow Wilson and Marguerite Bennett, the story takes place during the 'Secret Wars' storyline in a world where the Avengers have disbanded.

"It's this world where the Marvel heroines are leaders in their own civilization," said Bennett. "It's just this is how their world evolved. They were competent. They were clever and they were the ones in charge because of their skills and they were the best fit for these roles and demands of their world."

We're Getting More Female Superheroes

Right now, there's definitely been an uptick in the number of prominent superheroes in the MCU. Besides 'Captain Marvel', we'll be getting a 'Black Widow' movie next year. And it's already been confirmed we'll be seeing a female Thor in the form of Natalie Portman/Jane Foster, and a female Black Panther with Letitia Wright as Princess Shuri.

And one of the favorite scenes from 'Avengers: Endgame' was the sight of all the female heroes banding together to help each other take down Thanos' army. Could it possibly mean we'll see an all-female team in a future film?

Could Captain Marvel Lead A-Force?

If we do get an A-Force movie, there's a good chance that Captain Marvel could be the leader of the team. It would make sense as she's highly skilled, a powerful fighter, and she's had decades of significant experience dealing with alien species and forces throughout the universe.

In the A-Force comics, She-Hulk is the designated leader of the team. However, since we haven't seen any signs that She-Hulk will be in the MCU as of yet, Captain Marvel would be the best candidate to lead the team.

We're Already Hearing Rumors of a Possible A-Force Movie

We're already getting more hints that an 'A-Force' movie is already in development.

Apparently, Tessa Thompson, who plays Valkyrie, had long ago pitched Kevin Feige on the concept of having a movie with an all-female team. And rumors are starting to pick up that it might actually be happening.

Not only would such a movie mean an all-female cast, but it would also likely mean a team of female team of writers and a woman director at the forefront. Anna Bodin was the first female Marvel Director for 'Captain Marvel' and could be a likely candidate.
