You could help solve a homicide: Police seek info in Fayetteville slaying

A death investigation by the Fayetteville Police Department earlier this month at an area motel has been deemed a homicide, officials announced Friday.

Jeremy Mercer, 44, was found dead June 15 in a room at the Extended Stay America at 408 Owen Drive about 6:45 p.m., according to a news release. It's believed he was killed days earlier, around June 10, the release said.

Investigators are asking anyone who stayed at the hotel or who may have encountered Mercer around June 10 to contact Detective A. Wolford at 910-705-2141 or Crimestoppers at 910-483-8477.
