Now this would be a reunion for the ages!

The internet is going gaga over Kristen Stewart right now, and fans are going so far to dream cast her as the next big Batman villain now that her former Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson is playing the Caped Crusader. But how does she feel about that?

“I love the energy behind that,” Stewart said, when Clayton Davis asked her about whether or not she’d be interested in teaming up with her Twilight co-star again to play iconic Batman villain The Joker on the Variety Awards Circuit podcast.

“It’s really been done so well. I feel like, maybe we don’t traipse over, but I love that gusto,” she continued. “Let’s figure something else out. I’m totally down to play a freaky, scary person.”

When Davis asked if that was a definitive “no,” Stewart replied, “Not ‘no,’ but not the most stoked I’ve ever been. Let’s do something new.”

The Joker has been one of the most widely portrayed comic book villains, being played by everyone from Mark Hamill, to Jack Nicholson, to Jared Leto, to Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix.

Maybe instead Stewart could put her own stamp on the Batman universe by playing a villain we haven't seen on screen yet. Maybe the terrifying serial killer Jane Doe whose face is exposed muscle and takes over the identity of the victims she kills. Or maybe the insidious Professor Pyg, who kidnaps people and brainwashes them and mutilates them until they become his willing slaves. Or even the demented Mad Hatter who uses mind control. We’d honestly love to see Stewart add her own unique flair to any of these characters.

For now, Stewart is starring in this fall’s Spencer, which is already garnering her huge Oscar buzz. She plays Princess Diana in the film from Pablo Larraín, which follows the legendary princess as she decides to leave her life with the royals over a holiday weekend.

After that, she’s starring with Viggo Mortensen and Léa Seydoux in David Cronenberg’s sci-fi film Crimes of the Future. That film takes place in a near future where “humankind is learning to adapt to its synthetic surroundings” and evolving into transhumanism.
