Could the Raiders trade up to No. 1 for a quarterback?

It’s no secret that the Las Vegas Raiders are in the quarterback market this off-season. After benching Derek Carr for the final two games of the season, it signaled that the franchise would be moving in a different direction next season.
The expectation is that the Raiders will sign a veteran quarterback this offseason and the name that has been mentioned the most is Tom Brady. But is there any chance that the team could move up in this year’s draft to take a quarterback?
In a recent mock draft by Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports, he had the Raiders moving up from No. 7 to No. 1 to pick the top quarterback in the draft. That quarterback was none other than C.J. Stroud from Ohio State. Here is what Trapasso had to say about that move:
“The Raiders maybe could land Stroud at No. 7, but when you love a quarterback you can’t just hope he falls to you. Stroud is a high-caliber pocket passer who’d thrive with Davante Adams and Co. immediately.”
Of all the quarterbacks in this year’s draft, Stroud does appear to be the best fit for Josh McDaniels’ offense. He’s accurate and poised, which is exactly what the Raiders need with all of their weapons.
The Raiders might not need to trade up to No. 1 to acquire Stroud, but don’t rule out the possibility of them making a move for one of the top quarterbacks in this year’s draft.
