Fire crews were dispatched at around 10:43 p.m. as a working fire, dispatchers told News Center 7.

News Center 7′s Molly Koweek was on scene Wednesday night and said the entire top portion of the house was in flames and thick black was coming out of the windows.

Crews needed to be on the ground and up in the air to try and put the fire out.

News Center 7′s Kayla McDermott says firefighters could not get inside because fire conditions were too heavy.

An RV parked in the backyard of a house ignited in fire, a spokesperson for the Dayton Fire Department stated. The RV fire spread to the house, then to another adjacent home.

Crews extinguished the fire after around 4 hours, leaving the scene just after 3 a.m., a spokesperson stated.

There were no reported injuries as all the houses were vacant at the time of the fire.

One Dayton district fire chief described what he saw when pulling up the scene.

“We used to call it skylighters,” said David Wright, Dayton Fire Department District Chief. “You could see it coming down the street, 40 feet of flames from the back of the structure. I thought it was snowing there was so much stuff coming down.”

McDermott says there is still a lot of debris on the ground. However, no specific order has been given to demolish the structure, the spokesperson said.

The Dayton Fire Department is still investigating the cause of the fire.
