Council still favors airport commission change

Dec. 30—Creston City Council approved the second of three readings Dec. 20 about revising the rules of the city's airport commission to allow people who don't live within Creston.

For a couple of months, council has discussed allowing non-city residents on the commission at the request of Leslie Wurster. She has said she knows of hangar owners and knows of county residents who have an interest in serving.

The suggested change would have up to two non-Creston residents on the board. The board has five members.

It would not be the only Creston committee with this kind of format. City code allows the library board of trustees to have up to members from the county. The airport commission still needs city council for approval and council also approves all payments.

It is possible the new commission format could start in early 2023.
