  • Orange Is the New Black will conclude with a seventh and final season, set to premiere sometime in 2019.

  • In a new teaser, Netflix officially confirmed that season seven will premiere on July 26.

  • The full trailer was released on June 26 and it finds Piper exploring life outside of jail. Watch it here.

Though keeping up with Netflix's original content may now feel like a full-time job, the streaming giant didn't always have such a robust roster. Back in 2013, Orange Is the New Black was one of the platform's first hits, rapidly developing a loyal following. Fast forward six years later and season seven will mark the last and final season of the series, a fact that was confirmed last fall.

As you prepare yourself to see the Litchfield gang run their final lap, here are the answers to a few key questions you may be asking about season seven, from the premiere date to the characters and cast to the storylines we can expect.

This was, for months, the million dollar question on everyone's mind. Previous seasons launched in June or July, so fans speculated the news would come then-and they were right. Orange Is the New Black season seven hits Netflix on July 26.

"We're looking forward to a strong slate of global content in the second half of the year," the streaming platform said in a recent letter to shareholders, adding, "including new seasons of some of our biggest series, Stranger Things (July 4th), 13 Reasons Why, Orange Is the New Black, The Crown, and La Casa de Papel (aka Money Heist)."

Yes, finally! It was released on June 26 and truly, it made us quite emotional as we see Piper finally leaving Litchfield and the rest of the women coming to terms with their own adventures.

Previously, Netflix dropped a teaser that will make fans shed a tear. In it, all of the beloved cast members take their shot at singing the show's hit theme song, "You've Got Time." Their rendition, of course, is a little less rock 'n' roll and a little more playful.

Previously, Netflix teased us all with an initial teaser-also set to a version of the theme song-that featured super brief highlights from the last and final season.

Which Orange Is the New Black characters and cast members are returning?

Good news: pretty much everybody will be back! Even though season six ended with Piper (Taylor Schilling) being released early, she will still be a part of the show, executive producer Herrmann told The Hollywood Reporter last summer. "She's the grounding force of the show," Herrmann said.

Season seven will follow Piper on the outside, adjusting to a life of freedom while also struggling with being apart from her now-wife Alex (Laura Prepon), who has years left on her sentence. And, of course, the season will continue to track all of your favorite inmates on the inside, including Taystee (Danielle Brooks), Nicky (Natasha Lyonne), Suzanne (Uzo Aduba), Black Cindy (Adrienne C Moore), Red (Kate Mulgrew) and Daya (Dascha Polanco).

The cast have all shared plenty of behind-the-scenes glimpses as the show wrapped filming in February. Fair warning: their goodbye posts may make you cry.

Details on the specifics are being kept under wraps. Hermann did tell The Hollywood Reporter that the season will continue to explore privilege through Piper's character, in the new context of her life after prison.

"We’re very excited because now we have a few people on the outside, Aleida Diaz [Elizabeth Rodriguez] being one of them," Hermann said. "To be able to show the juxtaposition of what life is like for someone in Aleida’s shoes compared to somebody who is in Piper’s shoes is very exciting for us."

Meanwhile, Taystee is facing a life sentence, having been unjustly convicted of second-degree murder in relation to the death of abusive officer Desi Piscatella, while Blanca Flores (Laura Gomez) is facing possible deportation.

Will there be an Orange Is the New Black spinoff?

Never say never! A huge number of successful shows are getting the sequel treatment since producers know the value of a built-in audience. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Lionsgate Television Group chairman Kevin Beggs said during an earnings call that he's had discussions with creator Jenji Kohan about making another series.

"We’re really proud of the long run that Orange Is the New Black had,” Beggs said. “It remains one of Netflix’s most-watched shows. We’re ending on a high note. Keep in mind we own that series and will be distributing it for years to come. We’re already in discussions and, when the timing is right, we’ll talk further with Jenji about a potential sequel.”

If it were to happen, a sequel would likely feature an entirely new cast of characters, possibly with a few crossovers, though Dascha Polanco has already said that she won't return.

During an interview with the Hollywood Reporter last year, Herrmann did share a few of the spinoff ideas that had been floated around, including a Broadway production (yes, please!) or, uh, a deep-dive into the life of Piper's tiresome ex-fiancé Larry (Jason Biggs) and his now-wife Polly (Maria Dizzia). We'd happily tune in to any of these.
