Countries around the world celebrate Eid al-Adha

Muslims in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iraq, Senegal and Jerusalem flocked to mosques and outdoor spaces to observe Eid al-Adha prayers for the second consecutive year during the coronavirus pandemic.

But unlike last year, many countries have eased coronavirus restrictions and allowed people to pray at mosques.

In Jerusalem, children were cheering outside Al Aqsa mosque while in other countries such as Egypt and Iraq, a large number of mostly maskless worshippers attended prayers.

Last year, restrictions to curb the spread of the coronavirus closed mosques and forced many to stay home and under lockdown, disappointing millions who see it as a holiday staple.
