Country, comedy, Christmas and Cody Cozz: Check out these shows and concerts coming to Pueblo

Put on your dancing shoes and mark your calendars, Pueblo. A plethora of concerts are on the way to spark the Steel City’s music and entertainment scene in the coming months.

Pueblo native and Nashville star Cody Cozzolino will kick things off Thursday at 7 p.m. as an opener for country singer Travis Tritt. That show is likely to sell out before or right at showtime, said Kevin Ortiz, general manager of the Pueblo Convention Center and Pueblo Memorial Hall.

That’s just the start of a talent-laden concert and event lineup coming to Pueblo, featuring a mix of different music genres, artists and performers.

“We have a variety of events that really fit (the interests) of all types of individuals,” Ortiz said. “Whether it’s country music, comedy, a tribute band or classic rock, we support it all.”

Here are some of the other upcoming Pueblo concerts and events to look out for.

Rob Schneider brings national tour to Pueblo, Sept. 23

The American actor and comedian during his set Saturday, Sept. 23, at 7 p.m. inside Pueblo Memorial Hall, will “explore the quirks and nuances of the human ego, diving deep into the world of narcissism with a hilarious twist,” according to the venue.

Schneider’s show in Pueblo will be the latest on his current "The Narcissist Confessions" tour. He has stops in Pennsylvania and New York after.

The show will take place during the Pueblo Chile & Frijoles Festival and is for people ages 18 and over. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Ticket prices range between $35 and $140.

“It’s going to be a packed house,” Ortiz said.

Get your boogie on to ABBA classics at 'The Fabba Show,' Sept. 27

A tribute to the ultra popular Swedish pop group ABBA, “The Fabba Show” will give attendees a chance to “relive the magic of ABBA” and the 1970s disco era. The performance starts at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 27, at Pueblo Memorial Hall. Doors open an hour before showtime. Ticket prices range from $28 to $58 for this show.

According to its website, the show is known for its “flashy stage production, extravagant costumes, exciting choreography and innate ability to drive an audience wild.” The group, like Schneider, is also on tour.

Christian rapper Alex Zurdo to stop in Pueblo, Oct. 7

Puerto Rican rapper Alex Zurdo will be at Pueblo Memorial Hall on Oct. 7 for a 7 p.m. show. His focus is Christian rap and he’s expected to perform songs from his latest album, “Connection.”

Previously nominated for a Latin Grammy, Zurdo has been active since the mid-2000s, compiling an extensive discography.

Ticket prices for this event vary depending on the type of ticket, but the lowest is $43.

Comedian Dan Bublitz Jr.'s show supports a local cause, Oct. 14

On Saturday, Oct. 14, Dan Bublitz Jr., an American comedian, writer and actor, will perform at Pueblo Memorial Hall. The show starts at 7 p.m. and tickets are $30. Proceeds from the event directly support Pueblo Cooperative Care Center.

“We’ve been excited to work with Pueblo Cooperative Care on this fundraiser,” Ortiz said.

According to his website, Bublitz’s comedy style is “upbeat storytelling sprinkled with silly one-liners.” He created the comedy podcast “The Art of Bombing” and is widely known for his one-man show called “It Was Supposed to Be A Love Story.”

A tribute to Fleetwood Mac, Oct. 15

“Rumours of Fleetwood Mac” is a tribute concert to the British-American band Fleetwood Mac, which formed in the late 1960s. The show takes place Sunday, Oct. 15, at 7:30 p.m. at Pueblo Memorial Hall. Ticket prices range between $29 and $149.

The tribute group is expected to play several Fleetwood Mac hits that should be instantly recognizable to long-time fans of the band. They will “transport you back in time, recreating the magic and energy that have made Fleetwood Mac an enduring force in the world of music,” Pueblo Memorial Hall wrote on its website.

A musical journey through Pueblo’s history, Oct. 21

The “Song of Pueblo” will take place Saturday, Oct. 21, at 2 p.m. and be performed by the El Pueblo Ensemble and University of Colorado Boulder Chamber Orchestra. A live oratorio, the show will be composed by Daniel Valdez, an actor and musician.

The event is free but attendees must have a ticket, which can be picked up at the Pueblo Memorial Hall box office. Songs from the production are expected to tackle the history of the Sandcreek and Ludlow massacres and weave in other historic Pueblo events.

A trio of dancing shows get Christmas festivities started early, Nov. 4-5

Pueblo’s Second Street Dance Company will present “The Nutcracker Before Christmas” three times: Saturday, Nov. 4, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 5, at 2 p.m. Tickets range from $19 to $36 and each showing is at Pueblo Memorial Hall.

The ballet of Snow White, Nov. 8

Hosted by Grand Kyiv Ballet, Kateryna Kukhar and Oleksandr Stoianov, two veteran dancers, will take the stage Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 7 p.m. to deliver their take on the Disney fairytale. Doors open an hour before that and tickets are between $33 and $81.

The performance at Pueblo Memorial Hall will feature an “imaginative atmosphere matched with bright costumes and scenery, while brilliant technical dance and comedic acting bring a heartfelt love story to life,” according to the venue. Musical motifs from Bogdan Pavlovsky, a Polish composer, will be featured.

Musical Community Productions embraces the Christmas spirit, Nov. 30

Pueblo’s Musical Community Productions will present “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” a musical about “family and hope in the golden age of radio.”

The first showing takes place Thursday, Nov. 30, at 7:30 p.m. The second will be Friday, Dec. 2, at the same time and the day after, Dec. 3, at 2 p.m. Tickets are $25 to $35.

“It features a lot of local actors and actresses from our community,” Ortiz said. “They put on a different holiday program each year.”
