Kane Brown decided to enter the Iowa Grandstand stage in a blaze of glory.

Pre-recorded images of the country-pop singer played across the screen at the back of the stage as Brown and his band launched into "Setting the Night On Fire."

As Thursday night's crowd of 14,541 boiled with excitement and the song reached its end, flames lit the stage.

"How're we feeling?" Brown said to the crowd. "I've been waiting all day to play for you guys."

Brown became prominent in the 2010s with early songs like "Used to Love You Sober" and "Don't Go City on Me," and gained momentum from a cover of George Strait’s “Check Yes or No” on Facebook that accrued 7 million views in three weeks. Since then, his catalog has expanded to include "Whisky Sour" and "Homesick."

Brown previously played central Iowa during 2018's Big Country Bash.

The evening's Grandstand stage configuration included a catwalk that gave Brown several opportunities to bend down and reach directly into the crowd gathered in front of the stage.

Brown took the time to mix genres, quickly singing a portion of George Jones' "Ol' Red" before transitioning into samples of Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girls" followed by Bill Withers' "Lean on Me."

Fellow pop-country singer Jessie James Decker — famous for songs like "Should Have Known Better" and "The Woman I Have Become" — opened for Brown.

"I wanna tell you something," Decker said during her time on stage. "My dad was born and raised in Waterloo. So that makes me part Iowan, right?"

Days before, Decker sang "The National Anthem" for this year's "Field of Dreams" game.

During her performance, Decker played "Lights Down Low," her take on Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" and her latest single, "Should Have Known Better."

Later in the night, when Brown performed "Famous Friends," he brought Decker back out on stage alongside his wife, Katelyn Jae, with the two women wielding a T-shirt cannon.

The songs that followed included "One Thing Right," "Heaven" and a shoutout to the state he grew up in with his rendition of "Bury Me In Georgia."

To top off the show, Brown performed "What Ifs." As the song neared its end, a tank top-clad Brown pulled out a Sharpie and signed his shirt. The crowd began roaring as Brown then pulled his top off and threw it into the crowd.

After taking a moment to bask in the adulation of his fans he ran off-stage as his band wrapped the song and fireworks punctuated the night's performance.
