The Country Network presents Wil Rion in 'Barbecue Country'

Apr. 27—LEBANON, Tennessee — "Barbecue Country," an all-new original television series airing exclusively on The Country Network (TCN) on Saturday, May 29, is looking for the best backyard cooks in America. TCN will be coming to Lebanon, Tennessee on Wednesday, June 3 to film the final episode in Fiddlers Grove Historic Village that will be part of BBQ Country Fest at the Wilson County Fairgrounds. After an amazing response through a national talent search, the top 12 contestants from across the country have been selected to compete for the title of Backyard BBQ Champ.

Heading to Barbecue Country from Lenoir is backyard cook Wil Rion.

Wil grew up on the coast of South Carolina. As a child, his backyard was a playground. This is where he and his brother learned from their elders how to steam oysters over a live fire, mop the whole hogs or cook a perfect medium rare steak over the grill pit. It was in these formative years that Wil grew a love for cooking and food in general.

"Cooking is a soul cleaner," said Wil, "and cooking creates bonds, memories and joy in our lives.

It is through these experiences that Wil discovered cooking as his passion. Now his goal is to share it with as many people as possible in hopes that what he has learned can be instilled and live on in others.

To celebrate the finale of Barbecue Country, TCN is hosting a one-day festival packed with excitement. The Wilson County Fairgrounds will be filled with the sweet smell of barbecue as well as food trucks, vendors and a concert event starring some of Nashville's biggest stars, including Billy Dean, Andy Griggs and Chad Brock, along with special guest Gator Man, Bruce Mitchell. Also available are VIP two-day passes. Quantities are limited.
