Country singer Chris Janson and rock band Everclear to headline Thibodaux Firemen's Fair

Country singer Chris Janson and 90s alternative rockers Everclear will lead the music lineup at this year's Thibodaux Firemen's Fair.

The headliners were announced Saturday during the fair's first-ever Media Day at the Thibodaux Regional Wellness Center.

"The Thibodaux Firemen's Fair has made its transition from an annual fundraiser for a local fire department to an event that has its own place on the map nestled in the heart of a wonderful community," said Walton Guidry, the fair's chairman.

Dr. Guy Zeringue III, 2023 grand marshal, said the fair's growth ― an estimated 50,000 people now attend each year — means a lot of planning goes into it.

This year's fair is scheduled May 4-7 at 1101 Tiger Drive.

The fair, the fire department's biggest fundraiser and one of Thibodaux's largest festivals, has been an annual event since 1883, with only a few years skipped, including 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID pandemic. Its parade has been an annual event since 1857.

Everclear will perform from 10:45 p.m. until midnight May 5. Some of the band's hits include "Santa Monica," "Father of Mine" and "I Will Buy You a New Life."

Chris Janson will perform from 9:45 p.m. to 11 p.m. May 6. Among his popular songs are "Fix a Drink, "Drunk Girl," "Good Vibes" and "Buy Me A Boat."

The rest of the music lineup was set to be posted Sunday at firemensfair.com.

Also Saturday, organizers unveiled a painting by local artist Michelle Eroche that will be used for this year's fair poster. The painting features carnival tents, a Ferris wheel and a Dalmatian, a reference to the department's costumed mascot, Sparky.

It will be the first year craft beers will be on sale at the festival as well as margaritas on Cinco De Mayo.
