Country singer-songwriter Chris Stapleton brings his 'All-American Road Show' to Alerus on Thursday

Oct. 5—GRAND FORKS — Award-winning country music singer-songwriter Chris Stapleton will bring his "All-American Road Show" to the Alerus Center on Thursday, Oct. 6.

The event begins at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Guest artists Elle King and Morgan Wade will open the concert.

Stapleton, a Kentucky native, won three awards at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards event in April — for Best Country Album, for "Starting Over"; Best Country Solo Performance, for "You Should Probably Leave"; and Best Country Song, for "Cold," a song he wrote with his longtime bandmates J.T. Cure and Derek Mixon, along with Dave Cobb. With this recognition, Stapleton has amassed eight Grammy awards.

Earlier this year, he was also named as the first-ever "Artist-Songwriter of the Decade" recipient by the Academy of Country Music.

Stapleton, who has also won 14 County Music Association and 10 Academy of Country Music awards, is considered one of the country's most respected and beloved musicians.

This year, his song "You Should Probably Leave" reached No. 1 on both the Billboard Country Airplay and Mediabase/Country Aircheck charts — his third No. 1 as an artist following 2021's "Starting Over" and 2018's "Broken Halos." He also earned Best Country Tour at the 33rd Annual Pollstar Awards.

The achievements further celebrate Stapleton's acclaimed album, "Starting Over," which was released by Mercury Records Nashville. The album debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Country Albums chart and landed on several "Best of 2020" lists including NPR Music, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Esquire, Vulture, The Tennessean and The New York Times.

In a review of the musician's fourth studio album, "Starting Over," The New York Times declared, "Chris Stapleton's roar isn't designed to scare you off. It's regal, an announcement of an alpha figure asserting his primacy ..."

A look back at his career reveals more honors. Following 2015's quintuple platinum breakthrough solo debut album "Traveller," Stapleton released two No. 1 albums in 2017. Both "From A Room: Volume 1" (certified platinum) and "From A Room: Volume 2" (certified gold) take their name from legendary RCA Studio A, where they were recorded with Grammy Award-winning producer Dave Cobb and released to critical acclaim.

According to The Tennessean, "Both (albums) are rich with the textures of Stapleton's vocals that make him one of country music's most beloved artists (with) classic country sounds and thoughtful articulate lyrics about love, life and pain."

Guest artist for Thursday's concert, Elle King produced a hit single "Ex's and Oh's" from her debut album "Love Stuff" that boosted her career in the music industry. The singer-songwriter has collaborated with Dierks Bentley and The Chicks, and toured with Miranda Lambert and Joan Jett.

King has won two CMA Awards for her collaborations with Lambert and Bentley and has received two Grammy nominations.

Morgan Wade's debut album "Reckless" includes a lead single "Wilder Days" that topped critical lists of Rolling Stone, TIME, The New York Times, Boston Globe, Billboard and other publications.

Her distinctly singular vocal tone and emotional transparency have been compared to Etta James, Adele and Alison Kraus, among others.
