UPDATE: The Heacook Fest 2023 benefit concert in Delmar that was originally scheduled for Sunday, April 30, has been rescheduled to Sunday, Aug. 27.

Delmarva honors its fallen.

Chart-topping country duo LOCASH and rising country rock recording artist Jimmy Charles are set to perform Sunday, Aug. 27, at a Delmar benefit concert in memory of fallen heroes Cpl. Keith Heacook and Deputy First Class Glenn Hilliard.

The concert was originally scheduled for Sunday, April 30, but was cancelled due to inclement weather.

"Cpl. Keith Heacook was killed in the line of duty two years ago, in April 2021, in Salisbury, Maryland during a heinous and brutal assault,” said Doug Marshall, the organizer of Heacook Fest. “Deputy First Class Glenn Hilliard was killed in Pittsville, Maryland, last year while trying to apprehend a suspect who was wanted on multiple felony warrants in multiple jurisdictions.

“I made a promise to their respective families that I would do everything I could to make sure these two brave heroes are never forgotten,” Marshall said. “That promise is why this annual benefit concert is so personal and important to me.”

According to Marshall, all proceeds from the benefit concert will support nonprofit organizations including Operation We Care, Tunnel to Towers and Behind the Line.

Named “country music's iconic feel-good duo” by PEOPLE magazine, Wheelhouse Records/BMG’s LOCASH Preston Brust and Chris Lucas is “hitting homers and serving up first-class songs,” as hailed by American Songwriter magazine.

With their loud-and-proud anthem "Three Favorite Colors" as their current release, they recently delivered back-to-back high-profile collaborations with "Let It Slide" (Leslie Jordan, Blanco Brown and LOCASH) and Beach Boys (featuring the Beach Boys’ Mike Love and Bruce Johnston.)

LOCASH’s wild-and-free "Woods & Water" EP (2021) marked the follow up to the 2019 album "Brother," featuring the smash hit "Big Country Song." Known for breakout "I Love This Life" and their first No. 1 hit "I Know Somebody," LOCASH has had eight charting singles, two successful albums, and over 815 million global on-demand streams since 2015.

They were nominated for Vocal Duo at The 56th Annual CMA Awards, and are touring this spring with Kane Brown on the Drunk or Dreaming Tour.

Who is Jimmy Charles?

Jimmy Charles released his hit single It’s A Maryland Thing, You Wouldn’t Understand, which highlights all the great things about our state, last summer as a tribute to the Free State.

After that release, Charles performed the song at a Baltimore Orioles game, a Baltimore Ravens preseason game, and a University of Maryland women’s basketball game, among other events and venues. He released another hit single, "Fish On," that he wrote as the official song for Ocean City's White Marlin Open last August.

While the Ocean City native found early success in 2014 with his first single, "Whatever It Takes," which was picked up nationally by iHeart radio, it was the power of "Superman," released in 2015, that solidified his place in the industry spotlight.

Written for the nonprofit ZERO Prostate Cancer to promote awareness with bandmate Goose Gossett and cancer survivor/mentor Phil Shulka, the song’s companion video premiered on CMT, trending in the No. 1 spot for more than a week.

Charles’ music video release for "Hard Way To Go" premiered with CMT and climbed to No. 1 on The Country Network. The video was paired with an outreach program with National partners American Addiction Centers, Vertava Health and other addiction awareness nonprofits to help reach those battling addiction.

In addition to the ISSA Male Entertainer of the Year award he received in Atlanta last August, Charles had previously earned the Nashville Industry Music Awards “Male Country Artist of the Year” and “Song of the Year” for "Never Had a Bad Day."
