County cross country runners qualify for states at a D4 regional final
HILLSDALE COUNTY — Hillsdale County cross country teams competed at the D4 regional finals at Ella Sharp Park this past weekend. Teams competed for individual and team qualification for the D4 state finals held at Michigan International Speedway.
Boys Results
The Hillsdale Academy boys and girls cross country teams won regional championships. Both teams qualified their field of runners for the D4 state championship. The Academy was led by junior Thomas Holm who ran a personal best time of 16:44.4 to take second place. Freshman Grayson Rorick ran a personal best time of 17:14.6 took take fifth place. Sophomore Reece Poole took sixth place with a new PR time of 17:19.7.
County individual Qualifiers were led by Reading senior Tyler Bays, who won the individual regional title with a new PR time of 16:12.4. Pittsford senior Kade Spahr qualified for the state finals with an eighth overall finish and a time of 17:26.2. Reading junior Kutter VanAken took 17th overall with a new PR time of 18:18.8 to qualify for the state finals. The full county boys results can be found below.

Girls Results
The Hillsdale Academy girls cross country team won the regional championship. Senior Megan Roberts ran a season-best time of 19:59.8 to take third place. Freshman Ruth Brownlee took fifth overall with a time of 20:28.8. Sophomore Ella Walton took 10th overall with a time of 20:49.0. Senior Whitney Wilkinson took 10th overall with a new PR time of 21:20.8. Seven runners earned All-Region honors.
The Pittsford Wildcats girls cross country team qualified for the state finals. Three runners earned All-Region honors. Junior Brooke Smith broke her personal record time with a new PR of 19:47.9. This earned her second place at the regional finals. Sophomore Ava Mallar took fourth overall with a time of 20:12.1. Sophomore Riley McCumber took ninth overall with a time of 21:17.1.
The only individual qualifier for staes was Taylor Lautermilch of Camden-Frontier. Lautermilch will make her second state final appearance after running a 22:24.3 final time to take 16th overall. The full county results can be found below.
