Jul. 13—GUILFORD COUNTY — Information about the Guilford County Farm has been added to a smartphone app for exploring farms, farmers markets and restaurants off the beaten path.

The Visit NC Farms app is building information from all over the state, and the Guilford County Farm is one of the latest additions, Guilford County Parks Supervisor John Gladstone announced.

"The county farm is an asset, and we want more people to get out here and explore it for themselves," Gladstone said.

Gladstone will lead a tour of the Guilford County Farm this Saturday at 9 a.m.

The tour will highlight the history of the farm, hiking trails, greenhouses, vineyards, fishing ponds and more. To register for the tour, visit www.guilfordparks.com.

The Visit NC Farms app provides information on a variety of agriculture opportunities, including pick-your-own vegetables and produce, vineyards and wineries, and eating and drinking establishments that source local ingredients. Information will include details concerning the operation, hours of operation and driving directions. The app was recently updated to include locally made itineraries and trips.
