County leaders establish award Moving Mountains honor

Mar. 15—LENOIR — A young man who is actively involved in giving back to his community received a brand new award during the Caldwell County Board of Commissioners meeting on Monday, March 13.

Brayden Frasure, a seventh grader at Granite Falls Middle School, is passionate about serving his community. He first caught the attention of Board Chairman Randy Church through Facebook posts that were praying for a young woman to recover from her medical issues.

"This young man impressed me," said Church. "When I saw that, I began to talk with others and said, 'Listen, we need to find this young man and see if we can get him to come and give the opening prayer for the commissioner meeting." "

During Monday night's meeting, Frasure was able to do just that, leading a brief but heartfelt invocation.

Church said that he and his fellow commissioners developed the new award, which they've deemed the Moving Mountains award, for people who lead by example within their community. Frasure is the first recipient, and he received a plaque and some county memorabilia.

"You're kind of a bright and shining star for us in Caldwell County at your young age," said Church. "We certainly do appreciate all that you're doing and for leading by example in our county."

Ever since he was little, Frasure has always wanted to help the homeless. He currently runs his own food truck, Little Red's Wagon, which feeds homeless members of the community. Visit littleredswagon.com to learn more.

Young Frasure is even an actor, known for playing roles in "Child Support," "A Happening of Monumental Proportions," and "Peel." He will be starring as the Tinman in the upcoming county-wide musical production of "The Wizard of Oz."
