County reports 17 new COVID-19 cases

McDONOUGH COUNTY — The McDonough County Health Department reported 17 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the week's total up to 129.

New cases have surpassed 100 every week since the Thanksgiving holiday. According to the MCHD, 13,502 county residents, or 45.07 percent are now fully vaccinated. This is slightly higher than recent percentages in recent months, which lingered below 45 percent.

The county's vaccination percentage is still significantly lower than the state's overall percentage of fully vaccinated Illinoisans, which stands at 67.9 percent.
