Couple to pay off house with $300,000 winnings, South Carolina lottery says

A man who won $300,000 on a lottery scratch-off ticket immediately called his wife over to show her, according to the South Carolina Education Lottery.

“She was more excited than I was,” he told lottery officials.

The man bought the $10 ticket from a grocery store in Florence, about 80 miles east of Columbia.

He was at home when he scratched the ticket and found out he’d won.

The couple decided to use the money to pay off their house.

His odds of winning the Red Cherry Tripler ticket’s top prize were one in 900,000, according to the lottery.

There are four top $300,000 prizes remaining in the scratch-off game.
