Couple in Wisconsin both arrested for OWI after girlfriend drove to pick up boyfriend who was in custody for OWI

(WFRV) – Authorities in Washington County made two OWI arrests hours apart after a woman was arrested going to pick up her boyfriend who was arrested earlier for OWI.

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, a woman was arrested for OWI after driving to the sheriff’s office to pick up her boyfriend who was arrested for OWI just hours before. Officials say that it started on January 31 around 11 p.m. when a deputy stopped a vehicle for driving 58mph in a 45 mph zone on CTH P.

The driver was identified as a 29-year-old man from West Bend, and authorities say that he showed signs of impairment. He was then arrested for this third OWI and a preliminary breath test reportedly came back with a .21 result.

The man was turned over to jail staff and held on a $850 cash bond, according to the sheriff’s office.

Around 2 a.m. on February 1, the man’s girlfriend drove to the sheriff’s office to pick him up. Authorities say that she was in the vehicle during the initial stop.

The release says that a deputy found the woman in the parking lot and she told the deputy she drove from a local tavern to pick her boyfriend up. The woman reportedly showed signs of impairment and was arrested for a second offense OWI.
